Christngoma
Bilingual (English/French) website for Christngoma, a charity acting for Gabon's rural communities and the victims of human-wildlife conflict. The site tells the organisation's founding story, presents its programmes, surfaces impact metrics, and drives one-off and recurring donations.
01 Overview
Christngoma is a charity acting for Gabon's rural communities and standing with the victims of human-wildlife conflict. It carries the name of Christ Ngoma, a 24-year-old killed by an elephant while searching for food, and supports affected families, defends victims' rights, and builds sustainable rural livelihoods so no one is pushed toward high-risk zones. The goal was a credible, emotionally resonant bilingual website that tells this story, explains the programmes, and converts visitors into donors.
02 The Challenge
A young charity working on a sensitive, unfamiliar cause needed to earn trust fast with two very different audiences: French-speaking stakeholders in Gabon and English-speaking international donors. The site had to handle full English/French localisation without duplicated code, present a difficult subject with dignity rather than shock, communicate real impact through data, and make giving frictionless, all while loading quickly for visitors on variable connections.
03 The Solution
- 01Built a fully bilingual (EN/FR) site with Next.js App Router and locale-based routing (/en and /fr), so every page, label, and story is available in both languages from a single codebase.
- 02Designed a narrative-led homepage that leads with the human story and mission, then layers in the problem (human-wildlife conflict) with supporting figures to establish urgency and credibility.
- 03Created a three-pillar 'Support, Promote, Educate' section that frames the charity's commitments clearly for first-time visitors.
- 04Built an impact section with animated counters (products developed, days of training, communities supported, income multiplier) to make results tangible and measurable.
- 05Structured the programmes into dedicated areas, Human-Wildlife Coexistence, sustainable agriculture, craft, and eco-tourism, each with its own explainer page.
- 06Implemented a conversion-focused donation flow with preset one-off amounts (£10 / £25 / £50 / £100) plus secure bank-transfer details for larger or recurring gifts.
- 07Optimised imagery, typography, and layout for fast loads and strong accessibility across mobile and desktop.
- 08Provisioned and self-hosted the site end to end: a custom domain on a VPS running Coolify, with the domain connected, SSL issued, and continuous deploys wired up, no reliance on a third-party PaaS.
- 09Set up the full email stack: Zoho Mail for the charity's professional mailboxes, Resend for transactional email deliverability, and a newsletter signup so the team can keep supporters updated from the field.
- 10Delivered the entire build, infrastructure, and email setup in a 14-day turnaround.
